Spring 2024 Contest 1

Deadline: June 15 [11:59 pm PST] 2024 Open

Theme: Climate Action

Requirements:

Climate change is already impacting our lives. People are experiencing the significant impacts of climate change, which include changing weather patterns, rising sea levels, wildfires, droughts, and large storms. It affects our lives economically, socially, and environmentally. The greenhouse gas emissions from human activities are driving climate change and continue to rise. They are now at their highest levels in history.  If we do not take action immediately, the impacts of climate change will become more challenging and costly.

Write a short story or poem about why we should take Climate Action now, why Climate Action needs community-driven engagement, and what Climate Action is. The goal of your story will be to convey urgency by demonstrating a potential outcome if we do not enact change immediately.

Your story may be fictional, but be sure to do extensive research to be as accurate as possible.

One winner will be chosen. The winning piece will be published on the Earth Chronicles.

The winner receives $100 and the Runner up receives $50 Amazon eGift card.

Please view the Submission Guidelines. Submissions not following the guidelines will be disqualified.
