Summer 2025 Contest

Deadline: July 15 [11:59 pm PST] 2025

Theme: Restoring Our Planet

Requirements:

Our planet is in urgent need of restoration. Climate change, deforestation, ocean pollution, and loss of biodiversity have left deep scars on Earth’s ecosystems. But it is not too late. Around the world, individuals and communities are leading inspiring efforts to heal our planet—by planting trees, cleaning up oceans, protecting endangered species, and embracing sustainable living.

Write a short story centered around the theme of Restoring Our Planet. Your piece should explore why restoration is essential, how it can be achieved, and what a restored future could look like. Feel free to highlight real-life restoration projects or imagine new ones through a fictional lens.

The goal is to inspire hope and action, showing that even after immense damage, recovery is possible—with collective determination and care.

Your story may be fictional, but ensure your ideas are well-researched and grounded in scientific or real-world possibilities.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $50 Amazon Gift Card
  • 2nd Place: $25 Amazon Gift Card
  • In addition, outstanding participants—regardless of their final ranking—may be invited to contribute as Featured Writers for Earth Chronicles, with opportunities to publish their work throughout the year.

The winning story will be published on Earth Chronicles.
